Maintenance and Orders

When you decide to order select your chair and quantity in the shop and submit an order.  If you have special requests, are ordering for small business use or have a special project you can contact Eric directly at ericpowers@pascobarrelbros.com 

Please allow 1-2 weeks processing time for your order, depending on the size of your order and time of year.  

We can deliver to Kirkland, Bellevue, Redmond and the Tri-Cities for $50 per four chairs.  Though please understand that all three of us are currently in college programs and will need to have extensive communication concerning delivery times to coordinate our availability.  

We offer free order pickup from our Pasco and Kirkland Locations, again, please expect communication in order to coordinate pick up.  (think Facebook Marketplace only more professional).  Four Adirondack chairs will fit in the back of a standard pickup truck.  Two chairs will fit in some SUV's with the back seats lowered.  If strapping chairs to the top of a vehicle, Barrel Bro's can not help strap the furniture or advise on the method of transportation.  We will of course help you load your order into your vehicle and may provide protection to avoid scratching your vehicle or furniture.  

Shipping is a possibility, though is very expensive and will require extensive communication and flexibility concerning shipping dates and time lines.

Refinish : Thanks to the finishing method we use, refinishing these chairs is a simple and quick process that can easily be done at home with a little elbow grease.  

1 : First you will want to dust and clear as much surface dirt and debris off your surfaces as possible.

2 :  Next you are going to lightly sand down the surfaces of your chair using 150 grit sandpaper.  If sanding by hand use the same pressure as if you were washing dishes, a little pressure goes a long way. You can use a random orbital sander, a sanding block or loose sandpaper in your hand.  Lower grit sandpaper is not necessary, and higher grit sandpaper will take longer to reach the desired effect.  The goal is remove the raised ends of the grain and any surface level dirt.  Again, don't worry about removing the dirt from inside the grain of your chair, you will be there all day and it will reduce the effectiveness of your finish.  

3 : Be especially careful not to sand aggressively on the stained surfaces.  

4 : A small wire brush will remove any dirt and debris that finds its way into the stave ends.  

5 : While wearing nitrile gloves, use a lint free rag (an old cut up T-Shirt works fine) to soak as much danish oil into the wood as you can. Wait 15 minutes, then remove the excess oil that may have beaded or pooled on the surface.  This process can repeated 2-8 times, though we don't see much benefit in exceeding 3 coats.  

6 : Though top coat lacquer such as polyurethane, shellac or "marine finish" are beautiful and glossy.  They will degrade quickly in the sun and require continual refinishing and maintenance.  Yes, even products marketed as outdoor and UV safe will degrade.  Even the expensive stuff will degrade.  Unless you have extensive experience maintaining outdoor wood finishes, we do not recommend using any form of varnish.  

Materials 

-150 grit sandpaper

-Nitrile Gloves (will withstand thinners or solvents)

-3M N-95 Mask

-Hearing protection (If using orbital sander)

-Eye protection (If using orbital sander)

-Simple finish.  

Easiest : Watco Danish Oil Natural Tone (orange/blue hardware store)

VOC Free: Polymerized Linseed Oil (amazon) or Tung Oil blended and thinned by half with odorless mineral spirits.

-Lint free rag

You can also contact us for a quote on having us refinish your chair for you.  Depends on availability and location.  $50 for the refinish, further charges depending on pick up drop off, season, all that.
